Keeping Busy

I hope everyone had a great Easter. We spent our day with Mike, Candy, and Carter. This is the 2nd year in a row that we had Enchiladas for our feast. Not traditional but very yummy:) We also had carrot cake(a favorite family recipe) in honor of Mike's birthday.

Enjoy the pictures...

Ashley learned how to ride her bike without training wheels a couple weeks ago.

We all enjoyed getting to know Carter. He is such a cutie inside and out!

Happy Birthday Big Brother!

After almost two hours at the vet today we found out that Miley has to get a tumor removed from her lip on Monday.

Soccer Tournament weekend/MUDFEST

We were in Detroit for the weekend for Nicole's soccer tournament. It seems Mother Nature was not ready for soccer to begin. We had pouring rain, extreme wind, snow, and cold weather. The girls played in standing water and mud. You have to see the pics to believe it. It looked like a pig pen, not a soccer field. I spent a lot of time washing clothes so she could get them muddy again:) Nicole and her team all played well. They tied the first game, won the second, and lost the third. We had a great weekend in a hotel spending time with her team! They are a great group of people. Thanks to Papa Miller for making it to today's game and braving the weather elements. It meant a lot to Nicole.

Next three shots...Nicole taking control of the ball.

SURVIVOR MILLER ISLAND

Nicole's 11th Birthday party was based on the television show "Survivor" Nicole and Ashley love the show so we thought we could have our own version at home. The invitation below was created by a friend of mine. We had a total of 15 girls for the party.

True to the wording on the invitation the party was held outdoors in 35 degree weather. We were outside for just shy of 3 hours. Survivor began with the girls drawing "buffs" to divide into teams. I really felt like I watching the TV show when they were splitting up into teams. The girls went crazy every time someone pulled a buff out of the bag. Once the teams were divided the challenges began. All 15 girls were very competitive.

The first thing each team did was design their flag (poster board) and pick a team name. The two teams came up with "Yattawas" and Tye Die Stranglers" for names.

There was a total of 10 challenges and each team received one point for each challenge they won. Throughout the game the teams were even. One team would win one challenge and the other team would win the next. Some of my favorite moments were when Nicole flipped over the straw she was attempting to roll and the baby food challenge. During the baby food challenge the flavors were pulled out of a bag. One player from each team ate the same kind. They had 30 seconds to eat the food. If the player ate all the food or more than the other player they won a point for their team. The team with the most points won the challenge. Nicole ate squash and was not very fond of it. Some kids drank the food and other kids used a spoon. Some players would eat so fast, then throw some up, and continue eating.

The winning team was the "Tie Dye Stranglers". Nicole was on that team along with 7 of her friends. Their reward...A Survivor reunion party at the Miller's in the Summer. No games, but pizza and ice cream will be included.
